Common questions
What is SING! Edmonton?
Edmonton's a cappella and vocal arts festival. A weekend of concerts and workshops each year, school visits every spring, and concerts in between. It's run by SING! Prairies Society, a registered charity, with a lot of help from volunteers.
When is the next festival?
March 12–14, 2027, with community events in the days before it. Venues and the full lineup go up here as soon as they're confirmed.
When do tickets go on sale?
Not yet. Join the email list and you'll hear first. Past festivals have had single tickets and a weekend pass that covers the concerts.
I don't know anything about a cappella. Will I enjoy it?
Yes. If you like singing along to the radio, you're the audience. It's voices doing everything: melody, harmony, bass lines, drums. Most people spend the first song working out where the sounds are coming from.
Can I come without being in a choir?
Of course. Most of our audience doesn't sing in a group. And if the concerts leave you wanting to, our Find a choir page lists groups around Edmonton, when they rehearse and whether they audition.
Is it good for kids?
The concerts are family friendly, and sing-alongs are made for all ages. Evening shows run late for little ones, so check start times. If a show isn't suitable for children we say so on its page.
Can my group perform at the festival?
Please ask. Fill in Perform at SING! with a link to anything we can hear, even a rough rehearsal video. Local groups are a big part of every festival.
Can I put my group's concert on your calendar?
Yes, and it's free. Use Add your event. We check each one, then it appears on the community calendar for everyone looking for something to hear.
How do I get my choir in the directory?
Fill in List your group. Tell singers when you rehearse, whether there's an audition and whether you have room, and we'll put you on the list. Send it again any time to update it.
Do you work with schools?
Every spring. Our clinicians run workshops with high school vocal groups, adjudicate, and bring students together for a showcase. Teachers can email info@singedmonton.com to ask about a visit.
How do I help?
A few good ways: volunteer for a shift or a weekend, sponsor the festival or donate a silent auction item, or donate and get a tax receipt.
Are the venues accessible?
Our access page says what we publish about each venue and what's true at all our events. If you need something specific to come along, email info@singedmonton.com and we'll sort it out with you.
Where does the money go?
Into the festival: paying artists, renting halls and gear, and running the school program. We're a registered charity run by volunteers, and every ticket, sponsorship and donation goes back into making music happen here.
