Welcome to the Fourth Annual SING! Edmonton A Cappella Festival! We’re so glad you have joined us!
I first met our headliner, Micah Barnes, when I hosted the National A Cappella Championships in Toronto last year. It is an absolute privilege to share the stage with him and our phenomenal local artists to celebrate the music of The Nylons with one of its former members.
The panel of judges at the Championships also included Deke Sharon, the music director of the Pitch Perfect movies. We are thrilled to announce we are bringing him to Edmonton next year for a Pitch Perfect Sing-along! Mark your calendars for March 12, 2027. We also look forward to hosting The Real Group June 3rd, 2026 this year.
We are deeply passionate about a cappella, and we want this festival to thrive for years to come. If you love what we do here and want to see SING! Edmonton continue, the greatest support you can offer is simply getting the word out to your friends and family. We also want to hear directly from you—let us know what types of programming you are interested in seeing so we can keep building events you genuinely want to attend.
As always, I’d like to thank our sponsors, board members, volunteers, and all the musicians who have helped make this possible. We’ve welcomed new board members this year, and it is wonderful to watch the SING! family grow. But as always, you and the singers are the reason we do this. Every year, it is a joy to hear the music this community makes and to receive your incredibly positive feedback.
Please relax and enjoy the show, and thanks for being a part of SING! Edmonton 2026.
Warmly,
Brett Ludwig
President, SING! Edmonton

Tonight, this former member of The Nylons is joined by 3 members (both current & former) of local favourite a cappella group 6 Minute Warning!
Micah Barnes is a former member of The Nylons and currently an Alma Records/Universal Music Canada as a solo recording artist.
Born in Austria to Canadian parents (Classical composer Milton Barnes & Mr Dressup writer Lilly Barnes), Micah cut his teeth in the clubs and cabarets of Toronto before joining the internationally celebrated A Cappella group. Micah’s songwriting style lives “as a throwback” to a classic Jazz & Blues along with the intensely personal perspective of a singer songwriter, (best described as Leonard Cohen meets Tony Bennett). His albums “New York Stories” & “Vegas Breeze” topped the Jazz charts in Canada and found listeners around the globe.
Micah served as Vocal Coach & Music Advisor on Canada’s Got Talent. As one of Canada’s top coaches Micah is passionate about working with “up and coming” artists on both sides of the border. His clients have included Grammy nominated J.P. Saxe (Arista Records) , Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black / She Hulk) and Juno award-winners Monowhale among many chart toppers.
While some have said that he missed his calling as a monk, today’s top tenor voice Tyson (try saying that 10 times fast) takes his buddha-like calm, his superhuman patience and brings its laser focus to the heart of all the music he sings, plays and writes. Which is a lot, because not only does he sing with us and write most of our original works, he gigs as an organist, accompanist, pianist, accordion(ist?), trumpet player, arranger, and an ongoing list that won’t fit on this page.
All of this music is crammed into a body that “slight” doesn’t even begin to describe – not only does Tyson fit through a coat hanger, we often lose him when he falls through drains and cracks between sidewalks. But somehow his tiny frame has the sonic properties of the entire Vienna Boy’s Choir, and the way he belts out Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey tunes without bursting a blood vessel doesn’t just amaze us, it also shatters glass and anything around that isn’t steel-reinforced. When a vocal line is too high for even his one year-old daughter Rosie to scream when she doesn’t get her blueberries, Tyson steps in. (Rosie is as cute as a button, but Tyson also comes with the ability to read music, which we’ve found helpful.)
Note: This bio was written quite a while ago, and Rosie is no longer one year old, so she might be able to read music. Check with Tyson; he is considered the authority on such matters.
The sound of Brett singing is like a Care Bear stare blasting you right in the face. You may be laughing now, but you’ll be fighting back the tears when he rips your heart out with the fragile sensitivity of his voice. You’ve been warned.
His empathetic nature has given him a rare natural stage presence that helps him connect to his audience, but his palette is even more diverse than that.
Brett also likes to kick things up a notch and blow peoples’ minds with a killer beat. That’s right. This sensitive soul is also 6 Minute Warning’s resident beat-boxer and can be more action-packed than a Michael Bay film. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
Brett’s musical ability is born of strong passion, hard work, and a natural stubbornness that keeps him going. Want him to learn something new? Just tell him he can’t do it.

The Etown Vocal Music Society has been doing pop tunes a cappella style for over 10 years.
It all started with Etown Minors, a non-auditioned youth ensemble, and grew to include Etown Augmented, a non-auditioned adult choir. The society just keeps growing in numbers, skill, and popularity.
This season, an auditioned small ensemble was added to the Etown family – called Etown Extended. It’s a whole new place for the choir nerds to play!
As this is the first season for this ensemble, they’ve been finding their sound through performances at local festivals and events just like this one!
Fun Fact: The majority of the pieces performed by all of Etown’s choirs are arranged in house. Several of the members of Extended have done arrangements of their own, and they are pleased to showcase a few of them for you today.
Sit back, relax, and sing along with Edmonton’s latest addition to the pop a cappella scene – Etown Extended!

From the Top is an eleven-member a cappella vocal ensemble based in Red Deer and area. With an eclectic mix of voices spanning more than 30 years in age and experience, this group shares a deep passion for music and harmony.
Formed in August 2023, From the Top began as a connection between several members who first met through a school choir event their children were involved in.
What started as a casual musical bond quickly grew into an ensemble dedicated to singing jazz and contemporary pop and having fun along the way. And we now are thrilled to say that this year we have two parent/child members singing together in our ensemble.
Meeting every other week, with an unofficial shorter rehearsal on the off-weeks, the group brings together singers from different walks of life, united by their love of making great music.
More than just an ensemble, From the Top is a celebration of how music can inspire, uplift, and create lasting connections.

at the end of tonight’s show!
She’s a good girl
Loves her mama
Loves Jesus
And Canada too
She’s a good girl
Crazy ‘bout Elvis
Loves horses
And her boyfriend, too
And it’s a long day
Living in Alberta
There’s a freeway
Runnin’ through the yard
And I’m a bad boy
Cause I don’t even miss her
I’m a bad boy
For breaking her heart
And I’m free
Free fallin’
Yeah I’m free
Free fallin’
All the vampires
Walkin’ through the valley
Move west down
McDavid boulevard
And all the bad boys
Are standin’ in the shadows
And the good girls
Are home with broken hearts
And I’m free
Free fallin’
Yeah I’m free
Free fallin’
Free fallin’, now I’m
Free fallin’, now I’m
Free fallin’, now I’m
Free fallin’, now I’m
I wanna glide down
Over the Rockies
I wanna write her
Name in the sky
I’m gonna free fall
Out into nothin’
Gonna leave this
World for a while
3x
And I’m free
Free fallin’
Yeah I’m free
Free fallin’
